I finished this book a bit ago and so I really wanted to go see the movie. We planned to go last Friday and guess what... it's no longer at the theater. Dang it! Possibly an indication that it wasn't too good of a movie? I don't know.... we will have to wait till it hits DVD.
Book: Was good. The graphic sexual scenes were unnecessary and I could have done without. I didn't get how the story parallels the biblical story of Jacob (at least that was the word on the street). So I did some digging (5mins of digging) and came across a snip from the author below:
"There are anagrams, both exact and phonetic: Catherine Hale=Leah, Marlena L'Arche=Rachel, Alan Bunkel (Uncle Al)=Uncle Laban
There is the flat rock, the dream, the animal husbandry for Uncle Laban, Jacob and Rachel (Marlena) leave with Uncle Al's (Uncle Laban's) best livestock, Jacob must do an additional seven years of animal husbandry in order to be with Marlena, he breaks his hip, etc. Some of Jacob's children's names are the same as well. Like Simon."
Hmm.... interesting.
Movie: The book will more than likely be better than the movie, but now I will have to wait and see!
Result: All in all, good read. Now my brain is on the circus kick. I keep finding silly things like these curtains and rattles from Ikea.... makes me want to have a circus party! If only I knew where I could get an elephant....
Oh and here are two photos from when I was a baby... my dad snapped a shot of my brother, me and my cute mom riding an elephant. This was back when we lived in New Hampshire. :)
